We always want more.
Hiya!
Happy Sunday! I hope you’re all having a great day. Mine has been beautiful — service was awesome, and they even shared jollof afterwards. After church, I took a short ride to clear my head and think about what to write to you tonight, but nothing really came up.
Isn’t it funny how we spend so much of our lives dreaming of the next place, the next season, the “somewhere else” that promises to be better than here? Anyway, let me gist you about my calls with two of my friends today — Seun and Jokunle.
Seun is tired of the situation in the country and wishes she could travel. Don’t we all? I just advised her to keep putting in her best in everything she does. Someday, everything will align — and if it doesn’t, at least she’ll know she tried her best. I actually wrote about this a few years ago; you can read it here: “Not Good Enough.”
Jokunle, on the other hand, lives in the United Kingdom and travels around the world. I wish I could be like JojoMoney — touring Europe and seeing the world from a different atmosphere. He just got back from a vacation in America, and now he doesn’t want to stay in the UK like he used to. Seeing the world from America changed his perspective; it’s like a sweetener he doesn’t want to lose the taste of. If he could live in America, he would stay there forever.
There was a time when Jokunle’s dream was exactly like Seun’s — just get out of the country. Now that he’s out, he wants to be somewhere else. And one day, when Seun leaves, she’ll probably want to be somewhere else too. It goes on and on like that. Remember that quote Lord Baelish told Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones?
“It doesn’t matter what we want. Once we get it, then we want something else.”
Remember, there was a time you prayed for something you have now. *Winks.
Catch you tomorrow!
