Was Paddington right?

“If you look for the good in people, you will find it.”

I had a quick glance at the TV while at work today and saw that particular line from Paddington. For the next few minutes, I was glued to the screen, completely engrossed in the storyline. I’ve always heard people talk about Paddington this and Paddington that, but I’d never cared to watch one — it’s not really the type of movie I usually watch.

From the little I saw, it has a very beautiful storyline. I loved everything about it. Someday, when I get the chance, I would love to watch the complete movie. While thinking about the line, “If you look for the good in people, you will find it,” I asked myself: was he right or wrong?

If we look for the good in everyone, can we really find it? In my thirty years of existence, I’ve lost count of the people I’ve met and interacted with — everyone has different experiences and views about life. There are people who, no matter how hard you try to find the good in them, you will end up hurting you. They are who they are, and you can’t change them by how you treat them.

I once read in a book (*scratchesHead — forgot the title) that says: “People’s character towards you is a reflection of how you treat them.”  Is that really true?

Paddington was right in spirit, but the truth is you can’t find good in everyone — at least, that’s my opinion, and it’s subjective. We should approach everyone with a good heart, but we shouldn’t expect everyone to have one. Some people are just wicked, and there’s nothing you can do to change that.

There was a time when I expected everyone to be good to me — oh Kenny, you poor thing. shrugs

Alright, that’s it. Random thoughts like this get me thinking.

It’s a beautiful day regardless.

Remember to make every day of this month memorable! *blowKisses
