Look around you.
Take a Pause and Look Around
Yesterday at work, I paused for a brief moment, took a deep breath, and said, “Thank you, God.” My heart leapt for joy because I realized that I’m currently living in one of my dreams. Life’s challenges can make us forget how good God has been to us most of the time. There was a time when I prayed earnestly for the things I have now—when I longed for the life I’m living today. It’s not a perfect life, but it’s far better than where I started. There has been significant progress from where I began.
There was a time I returned from work in pain, with tears in my eyes, questioning God about why I was there. I hated going to work because it didn’t just take my time—it drained my energy and dulled my creativity. I woke up with body pain almost every day. Even now, I still feel pain in parts of my body because of the job. But things are different now; What I do today is something I once prayed for.
Ultimately, this isn’t my dream job, but it is a means to an end. Through it, I can envision where I’m headed, and that vision motivates me to keep going. I’m not there yet, but I’m deeply grateful for how far I’ve come.
So, my dear friend, pause for a moment. Breathe. Look around you. Remember the prayers you once whispered and notice how many of them have already been answered.
Gratitude doesn’t mean everything is perfect—it means you recognize the grace in your progress. And sometimes, that awareness is enough to give you the strength to keep moving forward
