Tonight is for the team

Image
Permit me to write to you briefly. As I write this, I’m seated with my new team at a Christmas dinner, and I can honestly say it’s been an amazing experience. Moments like this remind me of something important—and if there’s one piece of advice I want to share with you tonight, it’s this: learn how to network and connect with people. One of the greatest things that helped me grow in my previous workplace was team bonding. Showing up, engaging, and building genuine relationships made a real difference—not just professionally, but personally as well. So whenever you get the chance, attend that team dinner, that hangout, that bonding session. Don’t sit it out. Because when you invest in your team, you grow.  And when the team grows, everyone wins.

Look around you.

Take a Pause and Look Around Yesterday at work, I paused for a brief moment, took a deep breath, and said, “Thank you, God.” My heart leapt for joy because I realized that I’m currently living in one of my dreams. Life’s challenges can make us forget how good God has been to us most of the time. There was a time when I prayed earnestly for the things I have now—when I longed for the life I’m living today. It’s not a perfect life, but it’s far better than where I started. There has been significant progress from where I began. There was a time I returned from work in pain, with tears in my eyes, questioning God about why I was there. I hated going to work because it didn’t just take my time—it drained my energy and dulled my creativity. I woke up with body pain almost every day. Even now, I still feel pain in parts of my body because of the job. But things are different now; What I do today is something I once prayed for. Ultimately, this isn’t my dream job, but it is a means to an e...

Don’t you dare give up

Image
Hello, I feel so great doing things I love again — I’m not there yet but I’m getting closer. Today, I made a short video rather than writing.  There’s not much to write about, if you haven’t seen it, here’s a link to watch on YouTube:   Don’t you dare give up. Watch and be blessed. *kisses

Learn to pretend.

Hiya, I’ve been seeing this quote all over my social media today, and I thought it was right to share my thoughts on it. It says, “Pretend you’re winning and watch your delusion become reality.” I love that quote because I can relate to it. Sometimes, all you need is to imagine. There’s power in imagination—think you’re already there, and somehow you’ll find your way there. The Bible even says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” I’ve lost count of how many times this has worked for me. Before this year, I had never written an exam twice. Not because I’m a scholar—I just know how to find my way around every exam I write, and at worst, the examiner gives me “Let my people go” (iykyk). But this year, I wrote the same exam five times. I passed on the fifth attempt, and it was a real tussle for me. I spent money and hours studying, researching, and practicing over and over, only to keep failing. I honestly got fed up at some point, but I’m not the type who gives up easily. ...

Choosing myself slowly

Hello, Today was supposed to be a perfect day, until someone from somewhere almost ruined it. Some things are beyond your control, and it’s even more unsettling when they affect you in ways you never imagined. You can do everything right, yet someone else’s negligence can undo what you’re building. You don’t own these moments. You can try to manage them, but most times, they’re out of your hands. Something like that happened at work today, but I’ve promised myself not to dwell on everything, so I’ll leave it there. Sometimes, you just have to be the “bad” person. Let people think what they want and do what’s best for you. Damn the consequences and move on. People will talk regardless. You can’t please everyone — you really can’t. I met someone recently who asked for my help, and I gave it freely (that’s just who I am). I didn’t realise she was taking advantage of it. That disappointment stung more than I expected. I’ve been warned to stop trying to be good all the time, but it goes ...

Kenny you take things too seriously.

Image
“Kenny, you take things too seriously.” A colleague said that to me yesterday, and I’ve been thinking about it for the past twenty-four hours. For strange reasons, this statement has been ringing over and over again. Was she right? Am I always taking everything seriously? Should I always be? Must everything be approached with a straight face? I can’t deny the fact that the words struck me. I’ve been giving deep thought to everything around me for a while now, questioning some of my decisions and my approach to life—she’s not so far from the truth. One of the things my first driving instructor told me a few months back was to relax—try and be free. “Don’t load yourself with too much pressure.” My second driving instructor, at a point during our classes, told me to stop overthinking things. The more I overthink, the more complicated it becomes. I should not stress my brain beyond what I should. I can’t even deny the fact that I take things too seriously. I tend to overthi...

2025 tested us all.

Image
Honestly, everyone is going through something. The year 2025 has been tough on almost everyone; we all have a story to tell. A friend—more like a big brother—reached out to me last night. He’s been overwhelmed by a series of challenges he’s faced this year. It’s been one hill after another. He’s tired, confused about what to do next, and reached out so we could rub minds together and share ideas. I made sure to listen to his struggles before speaking to him. I told him, “This year has been tough on everyone.” I wasn’t trying to invalidate his feelings or place mine above his, but after sharing some of the challenges I’ve faced so far this year, he couldn’t believe how I survived them. There was a point when I began questioning God’s existence—I even wrote about it in “Where Do You Draw Your Strength?” I can’t begin to list everything, but honestly, it got to a point where if someone pointed a gun at me, I’d smile and feel grateful if they pulled the trigger. A few weeks ago, I was ...
